It is my pleasure to submit the candidacy of Brian J. Hubbard for your consideration as a member.
Although I do not know Brian personally, my late father, Senator John H. Chafee, called him a true hero when he autographed Brian's book, From Emptiness to Empowerment: Changing Physical and Other Losses into Strengths. Brian's accomplishments leave no question that my father was right on the mark!
Many adjectives have been used to describe Brian's speaking abilities: amazing, charismatic, captivating, motivating, articulate, to name just a few - all notwithstanding his having been born profoundly deaf. His example of strength and courage literally has changed others’ lives, and I am confident that he would do an excellent job.
I recommend him to you without any reservation whatsoever.
