Brian Hubbard is a flower in the rough.   Too often people with impairments reach a point where they give up and simply live to subsist.  Brian’s message, coming at a time when nearly three million people seek disability payments annually from the federal government, is nothing short of inspirational.  Rather than looking for ways to maximize their residual strengths, applicants for disability support, too often emphasize their limitations to make the case that they cannot live independently and achieve satisfying lives.  Most have no understanding of, and can’t even imagine, a life filled with substance and achievement.  The dismal number who seek employment after being awarded disability benefits best illustrates the malaise most encounter.

Despite his blindness and hearing impairment and many other hurdles he has encountered in life, Brian still amplifies courage, motivation, and hope.  It is the will to live life to its fullest potential, whatever hurdles it presents, that makes him a unique speaker.  The “heart” he conveys in his words is easily felt by those who hear him.  He clearly understands the “promise” of tomorrow and willingly shares it.   For someone born deaf, he is extremely articulate.  There is an amazing smoothness to his delivery and a strong sense of confidence in his presentation.  He will touch his audience in ways few speakers can.
