Dear Brian,
I regret that I cannot be with you this evening as your friends and colleagues gather to celebrate and launch the publication of your book "From Emptiness to Empowerment: Changing Physical and Other Losses Into Strengths". The evening, billed as ‘A Tribute to Author Brian J. Hubbard’, is certainly a well deserved one. It would appear that an exciting agenda has been planned for this occasion and I am sure it will be a wonderful evening for all those attending.
I am sure that you will understand that Congress is in Session and unfortunately votes will require my presence in Washington. My schedule does not always allow me to attend events that I would truly enjoy and this is certainly one of those occasions. Your commitment and dedication to helping those individuals with disabilities is to be commended. I am sure your book will be an inspiration to all those that read it and will also help those with disabilities develop the strength to live independent and productive lives.
Please allow me to extend my best wishes to you and all those attending this evening. I am sure that this will be a memorable evening for everyone and I will look forward to seeing everyone soon.
Patrick J. Kennedy, Member of Congress
United States House of Representatives
Washington, DC
